A Mexican national, Jaime Eduardo Gonzalez-Camacho, 29, appeared in court today facing charges of illegal reentry into the United States after being previously deported. The charge is one count of a deported alien found in the United States. A preliminary hearing is set for July 3, 2025, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Albregts.
The criminal complaint and court statements reveal that Gonzalez-Camacho, a citizen of Mexico, was deported on November 2 and November 10, 2017, as well as June 9, 2020. Despite this, he reentered the country illegally.
On April 23, 2023, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) became aware of Gonzalez-Camacho’s arrest by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers for multiple drug-related offenses. These included three counts of drug trafficking and conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substances act. After serving a prison sentence ranging from 26 to 72 months in state prison, he was transferred to ICE custody on June 17, 2025. Gonzalez-Camacho has prior felony convictions for drug trafficking.
If convicted of the current charge, Gonzalez-Camacho could face up to two years in prison along with a year of supervised release and financial penalties including a $250,000 fine and a $100 special assessment.
The announcement came from U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Salt Lake City Field Office Director Jason Knight.
The case is under investigation by ICE’s Salt Lake City office and its Las Vegas sub-office while prosecution is handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
