A Mexican national appeared in court today to face charges of illegally reentering the United States after previous deportations. Marlo Alejandro Valdovinos-Guerra, 32, is charged with one count of being a deported alien found in the United States. His jury trial is set for September 8, 2025, before United States District Judge Cristina D. Silva.
The criminal indictment and court proceedings allege that Valdovinos-Guerra, a citizen and national of Mexico, was deported from the United States on five occasions: December 15, 2012; March 7, 2019; April 22, 2019; March 25, 2021; and December 2, 2024. He allegedly reentered the country illegally within a month of his most recent deportation.
In addition to his immigration violations, Valdovinos-Guerra was convicted in 2024 for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and sentenced to two years in custody. In 2025, he pleaded guilty to attempting malicious destruction of property by discharging a firearm at a nightclub.
If convicted on the current charge, Valdovinos-Guerra faces up to 20 years in prison, a three-year term of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment.
United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Salt Lake City Field Office Director Jason Knight announced the charges. The case was investigated by ICE’s Salt Lake City office and its Las Vegas sub-office. The prosecution is handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
