Nevada Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony expressed his honor in opening the Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Reno, emphasizing its significance in connecting leaders across the state’s tourism sector.
“Thrilled to provide welcoming remarks to the Governor’s Conference on Tourism at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno,” said Stavros S. Anthony, Nevada State Executive – Lieutenant Governor (R). “As chairman of the Nevada Tourism Commission, I am excited that we are holding this important event that brings our statewide tourism sector together.”
The Governor’s Conference on Tourism is Nevada’s premier annual event for travel and hospitality leaders. It showcases statewide initiatives aimed at promoting economic development and visitor engagement through marketing and innovation.
According to state data, tourism is Nevada’s largest economic driver, supporting nearly 330,000 jobs and generating over $75 billion in total economic impact annually. The conference focuses on strategies to sustain growth and diversify tourism offerings.
Reno’s Grand Sierra Resort hosts major state events, underscoring Northern Nevada’s expanding role in the state’s travel and convention industry. This sector continues to rebound strongly following disruptions caused by the pandemic.
Anthony serves as lieutenant governor of Nevada and chairman of the Nevada Commission on Tourism. A retired Las Vegas police captain and former city councilman, he concentrates on public safety, economic development, and statewide tourism promotion.
