Stavros Anthony, the lieutenant governor of Nevada, announced that Apple’s expansion of its data center capacity in the state is set to create both construction and long-term jobs. This statement was made on the social media platform X.
“As Nevada’s Lt. Governor and board member of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, I am excited at Apple’s continued commitment to building data center capacity in Nevada,” said Stavros S. Anthony, Nevada State Executive – Lieutenant Governor (R). “Apple’s investment will support both construction and permanent jobs.”
Apple is undertaking an expansion of its data center operations in Nevada as part of a $600 billion investment strategy across the United States. According to Apple’s newsroom, the new development at Reno Technology Park will enhance capacity and complement other expansions in Iowa and Oregon.
The expansion in Nevada is anticipated to generate thousands of jobs during both the construction phase and ongoing operations. Data Center Frontier reports that this project will significantly boost employment and economic activity within the region.
Nevada’s technology sector currently generates $8.9 billion annually, accounting for 4.6% of the state’s economy, and supports approximately 5,000 tech businesses. TechRSeries indicates that this growth reflects a diversification beyond Nevada’s traditional tourism and gaming industries.
Anthony has served as Nevada’s lieutenant governor since 2023, following his tenure on the Las Vegas City Council from 2009 to 2022 and a lengthy career in law enforcement.
