A winter storm that rolled in through the state earlier this year provided Gov. Joe Lombardo (R-NV) that chance to address concerns about the severe cold with Nevadans.

Lombardo, who was elected to office in November, noted that thousands of residents have been without power due to winter weather that impacted northwest Nevada as the new year approached, according to a news release by the state government.

“As we face more incoming severe winter weather, state agencies are working diligently on their preparation and response efforts. I encourage all Nevadans to prepare for the storm, listen to local weather advisories and use sound judgment when traveling,” said Lombardo in the release.

Moreover, the Division of Emergency Management (DEM) for Nevada gave updates to local municipalities on weather and power demands. Local emergency managers coordinated with emergency managers to respond to any weather-related crises.

The storm was monitored by DEM and residents are encouraged to visit dem.nv.gov for information on how to prepare for future winter storms.

The Nevada Department of Transportation prepped roads for the storm by removing debris with snow trucks and making sure that infrastructure in the affected areas was safe for travel. The state will continue to monitor the weather as the winter season progresses.
