From its beginnings in 1955 with fewer than 2,000 books at Las Vegas High School, the main library of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has become a central part of campus life. Now known as Lied Library, it was named after Ernst Lied, founder of the Lied Charitable Trust. The facility officially opened to the public in January 2001.
Lied Library now holds over two million books and resources and receives more than one million visitors each year. Over time, it has earned recognition for its modern facilities and contributions to academic excellence at UNLV. The library is described as “the heart of UNLV,” supporting access to information and innovation for students and faculty.
