The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced on May 8 that the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision at East Charleston Boulevard and North Mojave Road has been located, but the driver remains outstanding. The incident, which took place at approximately 3:00 a.m. on May 2, is still under investigation by the department’s Collision Investigation Section.

According to authorities, this case is significant as it involves life-threatening injuries to a pedestrian who was struck while crossing the street with a dog. The department urges anyone with information about the collision or the driver to contact their Collision Investigation Section or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.

Police said evidence and surveillance video showed that a pedestrian was walking northbound across Charleston Boulevard in a marked crosswalk but against the traffic control signal when an unknown dark-colored SUV traveling westbound struck him. The front of the SUV collided with the right side of the pedestrian, projecting him forward onto the roadway. The driver did not remain at the scene and fled immediately after.

Medical personnel transported the injured pedestrian to UMC Trauma Center where he was admitted with life-threatening injuries. Authorities have identified one vehicle involved as a blue 2015 Toyota Rav4, but details about both parties’ identities remain pending.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate and encourages anyone with relevant information to call (702) 828-3595 or (702) 828-3060 for direct tips, or use Crime Stoppers for anonymous reporting through phone or online platforms.
