A Las Vegas resident, Elijah Sylee Shelton, has been sentenced to 12 and a half years in federal prison after being convicted of drug trafficking charges. United States District Judge Andrew P. Gordon handed down the sentence, which also includes four years of supervised release following imprisonment.

Court records show that on June 29, 2023, Shelton was found in possession of more than 300 grams of methamphetamine, over 45 grams of fentanyl, and nearly six grams of cocaine. Authorities determined he intended to distribute these substances from his apartment. Most of the drugs were hidden inside women’s purses placed within the ventilation system of his residence.

Shelton had prior felony convictions for burglaries and for using and carrying a firearm during a violent crime. At the time of his arrest, he was already under federal supervised release for previous offenses.

In October 2025, a jury found Shelton guilty on three counts: possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; possession with intent to distribute fentanyl; and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Special Agent in Charge Christopher S. Delzotto for the FBI Las Vegas Division announced the sentencing. “This case was investigated by the FBI and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department,” they stated. “Assistant United States Attorneys James Gaeta and Joshua Brister prosecuted the case.”
