The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has released an updated schedule for traffic control on Interstate 215 (I-215) as part of its pavement preservation project. The project aims to enhance nearly four miles of I-215 between the I-15 interchange and Windmill Lane. The work includes milling and paving the roadway, applying a polymer overlay, making structural repairs, upgrading traffic signals and lighting, enhancing intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and improving ADA accessibility. Construction is expected to conclude by winter 2025, pending weather and field conditions.
The first marathon work weekend is scheduled from Friday, July 18 at 7:00 p.m. to Sunday, July 20 at 10:00 a.m., with eastbound I-215 reduced to two lanes from I-15 to Windmill Lane. Nightly lane reductions will occur from Sunday, July 20 to Thursday, July 24, affecting westbound I-215.
Specific ramp closures include:
– Windmill Lane on-ramp to westbound I-215 from 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20 to 6:00 a.m. Monday, July 21.
– Eastbound Warm Springs Road on-ramp to westbound I-215 from 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 21 to 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22.
– Westbound Warm Springs Road on-ramp to westbound I-215 from 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22 to 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23.
– Southbound Airport Connector on-ramp to westbound I-215 from 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23 to 6:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24.
Another marathon work weekend is planned for Friday, August 1 at 7:00 p.m. through Sunday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m., reducing westbound I-215 to two lanes from Windmill Lane.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution in work zones and consider alternate routes when possible. NDOT collaborates with Waze for public updates on highway restrictions. The schedule may change due to weather or other factors.
