Last week, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak stated that he was donating his quarterly state salary of $27,475.45 to Nevada public schools.
The move marks over $295,000 in salary contributions that Gov. Sisolak has made since he became governor in January of 2019, according to a news release by the governor’s office.
“Today, I made my quarterly salary donation to Nevada Ready to help students in Title 1 schools across the State,” Gov. Sisolak wrote on Facebook. “Education is a top priority for me, and I’m glad these continued salary donations can help make a difference in the lives of our students.”
The contribution is part of a pre-election concession by Gov. Sisolak to donate his salary while serving as governor to aid the state’s public schools, according to the governor’s office.
“The First Lady and I are humbled to have the opportunity to give back and help improve the lives and the educational opportunities for the children of this great state,” Gov. Sisolak said. “As Governor of Nevada, the educational and the academic achievement of our students is a top priority to me and my administration. And these continued donations throughout my term remain a symbol of my personalstate commitment to education and my promise to positively impact the lives of our educators, families and the children of Nevada’s public schools.”
The governor’s office reported that contributions have helped over 286 286 to elementary, middle and high schools throughout Nevada.
