Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak recently proclaimed March 13-19 as Americorps Week.
‘’I was proud to proclaim (last) week as ‘Americorps Week’ in Nevada,” Gov. Sisolak said in a news release. “This is an opportunity to recognize the dedication and commitment of the more than one million Americans and their community partners who have provided service to our great state and country.”
According to the governor’s office, people who offer their services to the community are crucial to the state and that notion should move forward for years to come.
Citizens in the state were encouraged to be involved in civil events to cultivate teamwork and volunteerism in the community, according to the release.
AmeriCorps Week is also an opportunity to encourage more Americans to follow their footsteps in service across the nation and in the state of Nevada itself, the proclamation explained.
The governor’s office reported that AmeriCorps is an avenue that facilitates opportunities in economics, education, catastrophe services while promoting healthy endeavors with the state having 1,600 AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps seniors participants that serve at 200 community sites while garnering education recognition.
