Gov. Lombardo swears in policy advisor as Nevada Army National Guard member

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo announced that he swore in his policy advisor, Chase McNamara, as a member of the Nevada Army National Guard. Lombardo praised McNamara’s commitment to both public service and military duty.

“I’m proud to have sworn in my policy advisor, Chase McNamara, as a Nevada Army National Guard member,” said Joseph Michael Lombardo, Governor of Nevada. “Chase has served in my office since 2023. Has spent significant time engaging with the Guard. I’m grateful for Chase’s service in the Governor’s office and now in uniform.”

According to the governor’s office, the Nevada Army National Guard plays a vital role in both state and federal missions, assisting during natural disasters, emergencies, and overseas deployments. The office frequently collaborates with the Guard to coordinate state emergency response efforts.

The Nevada National Guard comprises more than 4,000 soldiers and airmen serving across 22 units statewide. In 2025, it supported wildfire mitigation efforts, border security coordination, and community resilience programs throughout Nevada.

Lombardo, a former Clark County sheriff and U.S. Army veteran, has prioritized veterans’ services and National Guard readiness since taking office in 2023. His administration has invested in mental health and recruitment initiatives.

Joe Lombardo is the 31st governor of Nevada, elected in 2022. A Republican and former sheriff of Clark County, his administration emphasizes public safety, education reform, economic growth, and support for veterans and military families.

The Nevada Army National Guard is a component of the U.S. National Guard system. It is responsible for both domestic emergency response and overseas missions while maintaining readiness to protect the state and support national defense.

Out of the $15 billion in total state taxes collected by Nevada in 2024, $1.8 billion—or 12.1%—came from property taxes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Annual Survey of State Government Tax Collections (STC).
