Galvin leads Nevada at Mt. SAC Relays with win in 800 meters

Nevada Women’s Track & Field athletes competed at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, on Apr. 17, where Malena Galvin led the team by winning the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.06.

Galvin’s performance not only secured first place but also placed her seventh all-time in the program record book for the event. The team’s showing in the 800 meters was strong overall, as Kylee Denver finished fourth with a time of 2:11.84 and Halyn Senegal took sixth at 2:12.26.

In field events, Stina Larsson tied for the highest mark cleared in High Jump Collegiate A flight at 1.65 meters and finished third overall. Hazel Gaspaire came eighth in Invite B flight of High Jump after clearing 1.70 meters.

Other notable results included Alma Kathan finishing thirteenth in Long Jump with a top mark of 5.90 meters and Misa Holland setting a personal record (PR) of 14.17 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.

On the track, Kylee Parsons posted a time of 55 seconds flat in the 400 meters—ranking ninth-fastest all-time for Nevada’s program—and also set a PR of 24.53 seconds while placing twenty-sixth in the 200 meters.

The competition saw several other Wolf Pack athletes achieve personal bests or notable placements across sprints and hurdles, contributing to what coaches described as a productive meet for Nevada.

Nevada falls to No. 18 USC after late-inning rally in series finale

No. 18 USC defeated Nevada 12-4 after scoring ten late-inning runs on May 9 in Los Angeles. Sean Yamaguchi contributed offensively for Nevada but could not prevent defeat as reliever Luke Schat took his second loss.
