FOIA Request to Western Nevada College regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

A request for information has been made to Western Nevada College under the Nevada Open Records Act § 239 et seq. The request seeks detailed records of employee compensation for all individuals employed by the University during Fiscal Year 2024. This request was submitted by Silver State Times, a media organization focused on providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The requested records are expected to include various data fields such as the fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth (if not exempt), date of birth (if not exempt or limited to month/year), employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time). The requester acknowledges that not all fields may be present in every record but requests that all responsive records be produced regardless. If certain portions of a record are deemed exempt from disclosure, the requester asks for non-exempt portions to be released in redacted form.

Silver State Times emphasizes its role in gathering and reporting news to the public and highlights the importance of access to public records for transparency and accountability. The organization also mentions its affiliation with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit corporation assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
