FOIA Request to Great Basin College regarding state university employee compensation data, FY 2025 on November 4, 2025.

The Silver State Times has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Great Basin College seeking detailed records of employee compensation for the fiscal year 2025. This request was made under the Nevada Open Records Act § 239 et seq., and it specifically asks for the information in an electronic format.

The requested records include comprehensive data fields such as employee names, gender, age or year of birth, date of birth, employer name, job title or position, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly wage, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time). The aim is to provide transparency regarding the financial aspects of employment at the University.

As members of the media, we emphasize that access to public records is crucial for our role in holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. We have also requested a fee waiver based on our status as media professionals. The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that supports media companies and advocacy groups in their efforts to investigate governmental agencies using Freedom of Information laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
