Every June, Men’s Health Month highlights the specific health challenges faced by men and encourages proactive wellness steps. This year’s theme focuses on closing the Empathy Gap in men’s health through advocacy, awareness, and action.

The Empathy Gap refers to the disparity in care, funding, and attention given to men’s health. Despite progress in healthcare advocacy for various populations, men’s health remains underserved. Barriers such as lower health literacy and stigma around emotional vulnerability often prevent men from seeking necessary care.

Statistics show that men die nearly six years earlier than women, often from preventable causes. Prostate and testicular cancers impact men at high rates but receive less awareness and funding compared to other conditions. Additionally, men die by suicide at nearly four times the rate of women, yet mental health services often fail to effectively reach male audiences.

Nevada Health Centers emphasizes making care more accessible and tailored to close this gap. Their statewide locations offer comprehensive services including family medicine, preventive screenings, behavioral support, wellness exams, chronic disease management, telemedicine, and mobile units for rural communities.

Men’s Health Month serves as a reminder—not a requirement—to take initial steps toward better health. This might involve scheduling an appointment or consulting with a provider. Nevada Health Centers invites individuals to visit their website or call 800.787.2568 for appointments.

“Because health isn’t just about numbers—it’s about living fully,” states Nevada Health Centers’ press release.
