Marty O’Donnell of the State of Nevada said April 15 that the No Tax on Tips provision will significantly impact tipped workers in Las Vegas during the current tax season, as federal tax relief measures take effect and his congressional campaign continues.

The topic is important because Nevada has one of the highest concentrations of tipped workers in the United States, with more than 440,000 residents potentially eligible for the new deduction. Las Vegas relies heavily on hospitality and casino sectors, where servers, bartenders, dealers, and other staff depend significantly on gratuities for their earnings. The policy allows qualifying workers to deduct up to $25,000 in qualified tips from their taxable income, providing increased take-home pay during this tax season, according to state labor analyses as reported by The Nevada Independent.

“For the thousands of tipped workers in Las Vegas, the No Tax on Tips option is a game-changer this year. While Susie Lee fought to increase their taxes, Republicans delivered on giving them relief. And I look forward to telling them all about it on the campaign trail,” O’Donnell said in a post on X. The comment was issued as the new federal tax deduction for qualified tip income takes effect for the current tax year and workers prepare their filings. It was posted amid his campaign for the congressional seat in Nevada’s 3rd District, which covers large portions of the Las Vegas metropolitan area. The district includes major hospitality employers where tipped income forms a substantial share of compensation for service staff.

The No Tax on Tips provision became law as part of broader tax relief measures and applies to tax years beginning in 2025 through 2028, according to Internal Revenue Service guidance. It provides direct financial benefits to workers in customarily tipped occupations by reducing their federal tax burden on earned gratuities. Implementation has delivered measurable relief to service industry employees in tourist-driven economies like southern Nevada, where tips often represent the majority of income for many households.

O’Donnell is the Trump-endorsed Republican candidate challenging incumbent Democrat Susie Lee in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. A renowned video game composer known for his work on major franchises, he has positioned his campaign around policies that support working families and economic growth in Southern Nevada. He emphasizes practical tax relief measures that benefit local service workers and strengthen the state’s hospitality-driven economy, according to The Nevada Independent.
