Senior Keyannah Chavez and freshman Lauren Fettic have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-West Region third team, according to a May 14 announcement from the organization.
The recognition highlights standout performances by softball players from universities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah. Both Chavez and Fettic now become eligible for consideration for the 2026 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
Chavez led her team with a .421 batting average, ranking third in the Mountain West Conference and 69th nationally. She also topped her squad in hits (64), doubles (16), and on-base percentage (.521). Her on-base percentage was second in the conference and placed her among the top fifty nationally. In addition to these achievements, Chavez ranked second on her team in runs batted in (37) and slugging percentage (.651). She previously earned All-Mountain West first team honors this season. This is Chavez’s first career selection to an All-West Region team.
Fettic became the first UNLV freshman pitcher since 2019 to be selected for an All-West Region squad. She posted a 14-9 record with a 3.35 earned run average over 36 appearances, including seven complete games. Notably, she pitched a career-high nine innings against Grand Canyon University on April 24 during a win for her team. Over those appearances, Fettic threw for a total of 142 innings with ninety strikeouts. Earlier this year she was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Year—the first Rebel pitcher to receive that honor in nearly twenty years—and this marks her first selection as an All-West Region honoree.
The NFCA stated that “the award honors softball student-athletes from the Association’s ten regions with first-, second-, and third-team selections.” The final announcement of this year’s NFCA Division I All-America teams will take place at a later date.
