Better Nevada PAC said on April 8 that Attorney General Aaron Ford should sue California Governor Gavin Newsom for policies it claims are restricting Nevada’s gasoline supply from California refineries. The group said Ford is trying to pass the blame for high gas prices while fundraising with Newsom and knows he has been part of the problem.

The issue centers on rising fuel costs in Nevada, which have recently surpassed five dollars per gallon for regular gasoline, exceeding the national average. The premium paid by Nevada consumers stems from California’s regulatory environment and refinery reductions, which limit supply in the regional market. Higher fuel costs place additional burdens on households and the tourism-driven economy that relies on affordable transportation. Reports from energy analysts continue to monitor the trend and its effects on residents statewide, according to local market tracking.

Nevada receives roughly 88 percent of its transportation fuel from California refineries, according to state and industry analyses. Recent closures of major California facilities have raised concerns about potential supply shortages and further price increases for Nevada drivers. Governor Joe Lombardo has joined officials from Arizona in pushing back against California regulatory decisions that affect the western fuel market. These dynamics continue to influence costs across the Silver State, including the Las Vegas metropolitan area, as reported by state and industry sources.

Better Nevada PAC issued its statement in a post on social media responding to a video posted by Aaron Ford that attributed high gas prices to President Trump and Governor Joe Lombardo while announcing plans to push back as a candidate for governor. The PAC highlighted Ford’s recent fundraising with California Governor Gavin Newsom amid ongoing concerns over fuel costs for Nevada families. The remarks focused on the state’s dependence on California-refined gasoline and the need for stronger action against policies limiting supply, according to Better Nevada PAC.

Better Nevada PAC is a political action committee dedicated to advancing policies that strengthen Nevada families and businesses. The group supports Governor Joe Lombardo and focuses on practical solutions for economic growth, public safety, and opportunity across the state. It engages in independent expenditures to promote its priorities during election cycles.
