Nevada Attorney General Aaron D. Ford has released the 2024 annual report on statewide use of force data. This report is part of a mandate from Senate Bill 212, passed by the Nevada Legislature in 2021, which requires the Attorney General’s Office to review and analyze data collected by the Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Central Repository for Nevada Records of Criminal History.

“These reports are extremely helpful tools for ensuring trust between our communities and law enforcement agencies,” said AG Ford. “Transparency is key to public trust, and public trust is key to a just and equitable legal system. I want to thank the members of my office who worked diligently to prepare this report.”

The preparation of the 2024 report was led by Second Assistant Attorney General Christine Jones Brady. The report’s findings indicate that there has been no increase in incidents involving use of force in Nevada. However, it highlights opportunities for further research and training aimed at reducing officer use of force.

This year’s report includes detailed observations and recommendations as well as data on use of force complaints, incident numbers, types of force used, recorded injuries, circumstances surrounding these incidents, and demographic information regarding both officers and subjects involved. Data was compiled from submissions by 56 law enforcement agencies across Nevada.

The information within the report is derived from publicly available data provided by the Central Repository.
