Today, Nevada Attorney General Aaron D. Ford addressed recent protests occurring across the state. In his statement, he emphasized his commitment to maintaining public safety while upholding Nevadans’ constitutional rights, particularly the First Amendment right to peaceful protest.

“Violence of any kind will not be tolerated in the Silver State, and those who break the law will be held accountable,” Ford stated. He also stressed that individuals exercising their rights peacefully must be protected and assured that local law enforcement is prepared to manage these situations without federal intervention.

Ford urged participants in protests to remain peaceful and follow law enforcement directives. “If a protest is declared an unlawful assembly by law enforcement, everyone should disperse immediately,” he advised.

The Attorney General’s Office has made available a document detailing Nevadans’ First Amendment freedoms for public access.
